SINCERELY Loving

New blogger obsession: Sincerely Jules. She has an eclectic mix of vintage pieces that I swoon over, is a denim and army-green layering master and has an eye for mixing unpredictable colors and prints. Oh...also, I HAVE to have these Seychelles shoes in the first photo, a staple in her wardrobe as evidenced below. I'm not sure I can live without them. If anyone has any ideas on where to find them, I will be forever indebted to you. In the meantime, here's a little roundup of some of my favorite looks.

Back to the Basics

I love sequins, busy prints and bright colors just as much as the next person but sometimes you just can't go wrong plain black or white tops, simple trousers or denim or a classic black blazer with low maintenance hair and makeup. These ladies seem to have it down to a science.

Steak N Shrimp

A newly discovered photography favorite of mine, Steak N Shrimp is an image-based blog with a collection of images from editors Danny Miller, of the The Bear Cave, and Paul Chang. Complex Magazine recently featured Steak N Shrimp calling it "the perfect balance of pretty girls, insane photography and our favorites from the Animal Kingdom" and I concur. Happy to have a new site to add to my daily blog perusal. Here are a few of my favorites.

After nearly dropping these jeans in the Goodwill bin in one of my many moves the last couple years, I was pleased to see big flares are back as captured by The Sartorialist here. I'm coming to realize that my Grandmother, who could have been classified as a clothes hoarder, was on to something. Fashion is cyclical, my friends. Happy Cinco de Mayo to all.

Shanelé in the Spotlight

Mr. Newtown approached me a couple weeks ago as I was leaving the Brooklyn Flea and asked to take photos of my outfit {also seen here} for Maybelline's NYC365 feature. After checking the site for a couple weeks, I had given up hope. Something made me think of it the other day and what to my wondering eyes should appear...but Shanelé in 'Utilitarian Layers' featured here.

Downtown from Behind

I can't remember how I came across {downtown from behind} but I'm absolutely in love with these photos. I can almost feel summer just by looking at them. The majority are shot right around where I live as well. The last photo is less than a block from my place. I may or may not be on a first name basis with the guys that work at the Falafel/Shwarma joint and they may or may not give me free pita bread and extra hummus with each visit.

Brilliantly Blonde

I was in the checkout line at Urban Outfitters the other night drooling over this girl's hair in front of me. After creepily staring, I luckily caught the blonde bandit before she got away and asked where she got her hair done in the city. Turns out her salon is right around the corner from my apartment and I scored an appointment this Saturday. Although her hair looked great, I'm cautiously optimistic, as always, given I've endured many a hair debacle throughout the years, including but not limited to: a second-grade bowl-cut, the college Keith Urban special and blue streaks in my most recent dye-job-gone-wrong in January.

Here are a couple of my favorite blonde highlights and styles. If all goes as planned, I'll walk out looking exactly like any one of these lovely ladies in terms of hair, body, clothing, career, etc. etc.
