The Best Summer Shirt Ever

I have a deep-seated love for this shirt. It is on sale here but only sizes medium and large are available so try Urban Outfitters stores if interested (definitely go down a size). Bright floral print and breezy enough to get me through not one but two weekends of the NYC heat wave combine to make it the quintessential summer top. Half tucked in and paired with jean shorts here but this is definitely something I see working year-round and even with a jacket / blazer over for work.

Weekend Update - 7/9/2012

With intentions of going to the Hampton's, last minute I decided to stay in the city this weekend. After sleeping the last fortnight in the star position and near drowning in my own sweat, I decided I needed to do what any responsible 27 year old (ugh, still getting used to that) would have done a long time ago and bought an air conditioner. Other than that life-changing event, I went to Rockaway beach Saturday with dinner that night at my favorite neighborhood sushi spot before topping it off with Victory Garden goat's milk soft serve. Sunday laid out with the girls on the Christopher St. Pier and had dinner at Cafe Blossom before going to see the movie Ted...which I highly recommend if you're looking for a good laugh. Hope you all stayed cool this weekend!

The Fourth

Although it's not a Monday, last night felt like a Sunday (this week has been so strange with the holiday in the middle) so here's an update of the last couple days festivities. What I thought was going to be a lackluster birthday after getting a laundry list of fabricated excuses from my friends, Tuesday night ended up being one of the best *surprise* birthday celebrations ever pulled off...recognizing I could be biased of course.  The Fourth was spent doing exactly what you're supposed to do on The Fourth...eating, drinking and watching fireworks. And finally last night headed down to Battery Park City for River & Blues, which you should DEFINITELY go to if you live in NYC (Thursdays in July, 7-8:30 pm Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Park). Hope you had a great holiday and even better weekend. TGIF!

These sandals have been on my mind constantly since seeing them a couple months ago and hold the #1 spot on my birthday wish list...just let me know if you would like my address to ship them to me. Otherwise, I might just have to by them myself. I would suspect I will be out of pocket tomorrow given the holiday/bday festivities but we'll see you again on Thursday. Happy Fourth!

It was too hot to lug my camera around this weekend hence today's outfit post in lieu of an update. Simple outfits with shirts that don't touch my body are necessary for the wave we've been experiencing. Wore this running a bunch of errands Saturday which included multiple trips to Bed, Bath & Beyond (high time I start getting my apartment in order I guess) and stopping by the Zara semi-annual sale (I've been every day since it started last Thursday and found some real gems). Weekend activities included Friday night at the local watering hole, Saturday night dinner at Casa (Brazillian and excellent) and drinks at De Santos and Brinkley's. Sunday my friend Jenn got in town from Boston for my Birthday Week so we walked down the street for dinner on the cute back patio of Home (fresh baked cookies greet you when you walk into this quaint little joint). Hope you all had a great weekend!

Free People Fanatic

I made my first Free People purchase before my trip to Austin (I swear I'll shut up about Austin soon) and haven't been able to stop since. I was struggling the last couple months to find a pair of jorts that weren't way too short and these were perfect. Next to the shorts was this tank and once I saw the back...just had to have it. To finish it off, I paired everything with these booties that I have not been able to take off since I bought them a couple weeks ago. They have proven to be the perfect shoe to slip on to go to the beach, run errands around the city, go out at night, etc.

Simple Summer Shift

I saw this dress online a while back and was drawn to the deep back, which paired nicely with this blue & nude lace bandeau. I originally borrowed these Sam Edelman heels (on sale!) from a friend when I wore this out in Austin. Sadly, I'm back to one closet so threw on my go-to summer sandals (as pictured in pretty much every other outfit post as of late) for a super steamy night of dinner and drinks last week.

Weekend Update - 6/25/2012

Thank heavens it cooled off for another weekend in the City. Spent Saturday at Rockaway Beach and Sunday at Central Park for the Alabama Shakes concert. Sun and live music...pretty much my two favorite things on Earth. And like Groundhog Day, I'm back in The Cube for another week of banking awesomeness. How was your weekend?
