I made a trip up to the MET on Monday for some reprieve from the heat to check out the Alexander McQueen exhibit. The show is divided into six themes ranging from bumpster pants to beautifully cut smoking jackets, very dark Victorian Gothic dresses and the mesmerizing use of materials and forms from nature like the rose dress below...all showcasing the tailoring skills he acquired as a youth in Saville Row and then perfected at Givenchy. For those of you that can't make it to the MET, here is a peek inside but the pictures hardy do each piece justice. I highly recommend seeing first hand if possible to fully understand the mesmerizing craftmanship performed on each of McQueen's works of art. Truly fascinating.
