Weekend Update - 6/16/2013

{maybe the cutest cobblestone street ever in Beacon Hill}
{George Washington's headquarters in Cambridge}

{my friend Jenn's new grub adornment that I'm obsessed with...not to shabby, eh?}

{tooling around Fenway on a perfect Saturday}

{oysters at Island Creek Oyster Bar}

{the tour continuing through Boston Commons...}

{...proceeding through the cute/quaint streets of Beacon Hill}

{crispy grits and The Dude (fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits, spicy sausage gravy and scrambled eggs...holy heck, was it good) at Tupelo in Cambridge}

{mushroom/pepper/corn frittata}
{and finally back to the big city where the weather has been superb all week}
Now that the weekend is here, it's about time I post my pictures from last weekend in Boston which was just all around awesome. Every meal was phenomenal: tapas at Toro in the South End (recommend the smoked duck drumettes, crispy pork belly, beef cheeks, yellowfin tuna and last but not least the corn...just get the corn), brunch at Tupelo in Cambridge (see photos above, loved this place) and dinner at Island Creek Oyster Bar (smoked trout - holy moly, lobster roll & noodles, crab cakes...everything was great). Other notable events included the Sam Adams brewery tour and enjoying a few outdoor refreshments at the Atlantic Beer Garden for the Hawks game. Sad this will be the last Boston weekend as my friend Jenn moves from Cambridge but overcome with joy that she will soon be my neighbor in NYC. Have a great weekend, all!

Weekend Update - 6/10/2013

{soaking up the sun and indulging in some BBQ and blues at Sunday's Big Apple BBQ Block Party}
Pretty much the quintessential New York weekend last weekend with every meal eaten outside at some festival and drink drank on some of the best rooftops in the City. After a torrential downpour Friday and a great classic Italian meal at Trattoria Pesce Pasta on my corner, Saturday morning I was destined to be outside the rest of the weekend. Started out with lunch at Smorgusburg followed by a party hosted by Topshop & Bulldog Gin at the James Hotel rooftop before ending the night at the Archive, where I learned my best friend Jenn got engaged (eek!). Sunday went to the Big Apple BBQ fest in Madison Square Park, then the rooftop at Pod 39 before ending the night with (yet another) pizza at my friend Pete's. Whew. So yeah, rooftops and rosé are the name of the game this summer. And now for more rain...
{Maine Lobster Roll at Smorgasburg at South St. Seaport}

{my new favorite rooftop bar at the top of the Pod 39 hotel, which kind of made me feel like I was back in Provence
{a final glass (ok bottle[s]) of rosé on my friend Pete's rooftop which is complete with a big screen tv}

Afternoon in Chicago

Zara Jacket | Forever 21 Shorts | Aldo Sandals | Kate Spade Gold Bangle

Wore this little early summer get-up last week on the train ride up from my sister's house to Chicago. We had a couple hours to kill so headed to the West Loop to check out Little Goat for brunch. Oh mama, was it scrumptulescent. I highly recommend the Bullseye French Toast (which is filled with a runny egg and topped with little bites of fried chicken, strawberries and bbq maple syrup) and the Pork Belly Pancake (probably the best done pork belly I've ever had...and I'm a self proclaimed pork expert). We also had the Asian Shrimp Salad which was good if you're looking for something a little lighter. Overall, would definitely recommend the place and is a good substitute for its sister restaurant The Girl & the Goat, which is only a block away but significantly harder to get a dinner reservation.

Kennedee 10.5 Months

Spent a couple days earlier this week visiting my sister, her husband and my favorite person on earth who just so happens to be my niece, Kennedee. Almost walking, desperately trying to start talking and getting into everything...she's growing much to fast for my liking. With that, I'm off to start looking for flights to go home and visit her again. Happy Friday to all!

Mello Yello

Just a little yellow rehearsal dinner dress for last weekend's wedding. Comes in black and blue as well and would recommend going up a size. Please someone humor me and tell me you think Zara's dresses are running small this year...or maybe I'm just running large, in which case you don't need to say anything.

Weekend Update: Kara & Dan 6/1/2013

If someone asked me to describe the perfect weekend, this past one would be it. Two of my best friends from college got married in the town where we went to school. Had entirely too much fun with everyone together for the first time in awhile. Sunday was feeling less than 100% but headed over to my sister's house to see my little niece. So, like I said, perfect weekend. Hope you all had a good one!
