Firecracker

Forever 21 Shorts (similar here and here) & Tank | Zara Heels (similar here) & Bag | H&M Earrings | Kate Spade Gold Bangle

Well, hello there. Hope you had a Happy Fourth and a great couple weeks before that. Have been all over kingdom come, which I will have 'Update' posts on later this week but will leave you with a quick outfit post that I wore last Thursday for the Fourth of July slash my birthday in Montauk. It's impossible for me and really just un-American to not wear some sort of patriotic get up for the Fourth so went with ruby red nails, white tank and blue shorts & toes with a little touch glitter and neon because it was my birthday and I could wear bright, obnoxious heels if I wanted to...

Afternoon in Chicago

Zara Jacket | Forever 21 Shorts | Aldo Sandals | Kate Spade Gold Bangle

Wore this little early summer get-up last week on the train ride up from my sister's house to Chicago. We had a couple hours to kill so headed to the West Loop to check out Little Goat for brunch. Oh mama, was it scrumptulescent. I highly recommend the Bullseye French Toast (which is filled with a runny egg and topped with little bites of fried chicken, strawberries and bbq maple syrup) and the Pork Belly Pancake (probably the best done pork belly I've ever had...and I'm a self proclaimed pork expert). We also had the Asian Shrimp Salad which was good if you're looking for something a little lighter. Overall, would definitely recommend the place and is a good substitute for its sister restaurant The Girl & the Goat, which is only a block away but significantly harder to get a dinner reservation.

Mello Yello

Just a little yellow rehearsal dinner dress for last weekend's wedding. Comes in black and blue as well and would recommend going up a size. Please someone humor me and tell me you think Zara's dresses are running small this year...or maybe I'm just running large, in which case you don't need to say anything.

50° Memorial Day

Zara Shirt & Jacket | Urban Outfitters Jeans | Marc Fischer Sandals

This Memorial Day was fickle when it came to figuring out what to wear. Typically the holiday means breaking out your sundresses / shorts / etc. for the unofficial start of summer. With the nice little cold front that moved in Friday and stayed through the weekend, I wanted something that said summer (white jeans) but also wouldn't leave me freezing (long-sleeve leopard shirt topped with a military jacket).

Buzzin'

H&M Dress | J. Crew Necklace | Chanel Bag | Zara Heels

Oh, well hi there. No, I did not get into a boating accident in the Caymans...just a craaaazy month. Was out in the Hamptons this weekend for Memorial Day so figured I would snap some outfit pics because that 'It's Friday I'm in Love' post is getting mighty stale by now. My friend Elyse wore this neon little number on a bachelorette party in Arizona a couple weeks back. It was $34.95 so figured I needed it in my life...and then promptly wore to a wedding in Maryland paired with an equally bright necklace and neon nails. Hope you've all been doing well and had a great long weekend!

Simple is Better

H&M Tank | J. Brand Jeans | Zara Scarf | Marc Fischer Sandals

As you've seen, I love sequins, tutus and bright colors just as much as the next girl...but sometimes simple is better. Navy scarf, army green tank, jeans and air-dried hair thrown up on top of my head all combine for a low-maintenance (and budget) look.

Easter Attire

H&M Dress (similar here) | Zara Jean Jacket | Marc Fischer Sandals

Light yellow dress & a jean jacket for Easter. Nothing earth-shattering here but I had the time so I took the photos. And as I look back for them, I long for that beach chair I had such a close relationship with last week at this time. I guess this swivel one will have to do for now.

Purse Pop

Zara Jean Jacket & Bag | H&M Sweater & Earrings | Urban Outfitters Jeans | Marc Fischer Sandals | Essie's 'Lilacism' Nails

Every time post skin-singe, like I did the first day in Miami, a serious case of the chills sets in after that beloved sun sets. Therefore, I was pretty much the only person at the Delano hotel at drinks last week with a sweater AND a jean jacket....yet still freezing (if you know me at all, you'll know this is a rarity). I picked up this Zara purse a couple weeks ago, which I'm kind of obsessed with, and threw it on for an extra pop of color to the otherwise muted tones in this outfit for a night out on the town.

Work Wear

Zara Blazer (old) & Top | J. Brand Jeans

Just another work outfit because that seems like all I do lately...although I did manage to try out a bunch of new East Village restaurants last weekend, all of which I would recommend: L'Apico and Calliope (amazing, just go) for brunch and Acme for dinner. This whole 'work' thing is going to come to a screeching halt tomorrow at this time...when I will be on the beach vegging out for the remainder of the week. Serenity now.

Spring (Flowered) Denim

H&M Coat & Scarf | Madewell Cardigan | Forever 21 Tee | Zara Floral Jeans | Sam Edelman Booties

Floral denim is just about the only piece of a spring mother nature is allowing to be introduced into my wardrobe. I promise I'll stop complaining whenever the weather starts cooperating. Until then, the expression in photo #2 will be painted on my face. Silver lining: it's Friday. Happy weekend, all.

Buttoned Up

H&M Dress & Necklace | Zara Leather Jacket (similar here) | Arden B. Booties (similar here) | Chanel Bag | OPI 'Do You Lilac It?' Nails | MAC Pink Noveau Lips

The buttoned up look has been a trend that I just have not been able to successfully pull off for a while now...until I found this flowy little sleeveless dress at H&M. Out of the clear blue sky it worked so I paired it with a neon bib necklace also from H&M for $9.95 (similar, more sparkly one here I'm also thinking about getting). Also, head on over to Sarah's blog, where I'm guest posting today!

Ice, Ice Blue

H&M Lace Top, Pants,  Bag & Necklace | Zara Fur Coat | Vintage Nude Heels

And for the last of the fashion week looks: a monochromatic powder blue ensemble brought to you in part (or whole in this case) by H&M. The light blue hues and lucite necklace served to mimic the ice that I not-so-gracefully skated around on all day for the Jen Kao, Herve Leger and Alexander Wang shows. Special thanks to my dear friend Kat for snapping these photos. Have a great weekend!
