(lace) Dress & a (fur) Vest

Dolce Vita Dress |  Michael Kors Fur Vest (similar on sale here) | Balenciaga Bag | Frye Boots

I told you about this outfit here...but why not show you. Switched up this dress by adding a fur vest and these boots for a winter look. And I didn't lug my big camera around this weekend (my cell phone was actually dead for a portion of it, which was a nice change of pace) so this post will serve as a 'Weekend Update' substitute. Hopefully your post-Super Bowl Monday is relatively painless but before I sign off, lets discuss: how amazing was Beyonce? Holy lord. And of the few commercials I saw, God Made a Farmer...best...but could be because I come from one. Good day.

Sweats to Work

H&M Sweatshirt Dress | Michael Kors Fur Vest | Charles David Brown Boots

A dress made out of thick sweatshirt material with a little built in shoulder pad. That's what I'm wearing in these photos. That's what I've worn to work five or six times now because 1) it's so easy to throw on and 2) so comfortable. Almost as if I'm back in college (cue overwhelming nostalgia)...

Red Fur

Necessary Clothing Silk Shirt (similar here) & Shoes | Michael Kors Fur Vest (similar here)  | Urban Outfitters Jeggings (similar here) | Beau & Stella Initial Necklace

A casual weekend look worn to grab brunch and run a bunch of errands last Sunday. I could pretty much sleep in this red silk shirt (similar here) and these little moccasins are perfect for walking around the city. That's about all I have to say about that.

Cream

Zara Dress (similar here) & Bag | Michael Kors Vest (similar on sale here) | Black Tights | Charles David Booties

...And another.  I had been wanting a cream colored dress for winter and snatched this one up at Zara a couple weeks ago. These Charles David booties...a dream. So comfortable with the platform, love the deep cognac color and they go great with dresses and wide leg pants alike. On 68° days like today, I can get away with wearing this look with my favorite fur vest (this one is almost identical and on mega sale) and I'm good to go.

Double Dot

H&M shirt, tights & leather skirt (similar here and here) | Michael Kors Fur Vest (similar here) | Street vendor scarf | Zara Lace Clutch| Nine West Booties

I paired this sheer polka-dot sleeved shirt with these big polka dot tights to pull together the second of my NYFW looks. I then broke it up by mixing fur and leather textures (similar vest and skirt) and threw on a blue scarf for a pop of color. And thanks to this lovely lady, I'm heading back to the Lincoln Center for a couple shows today (yay!).

And just like that, fashion week is almost over. Not to worry, you still have 5 days left to vote for me (as many times as you want) in J. Brand's 'Style Showdown' contest to help keep me in the lead. As a reminder, one Shanelé follower will get a $300 J. Brand gift card if I come out on top!

Layered

Zara Sweater & Riding Pants | Forever 21 Striped Shirt, Bag & Scarf | Frye Boots | Michael Kors Vest (similar here)

Layers. The key to withstanding this crazy up-and-down weather we've been experiencing. I'm not complaining about 60° but fingers crossed it isn't all building up to be a miserable February (likely the case). Looks like more of the same this weekend...but luckily I will be in the Hamptons. In a cozy house, with a fireplace and very little to do besides catch up on the Golden Globe nominated movies in advance of Sunday night's awards. What are your plans this weekend?

[Boston] Cream Sweater Skirt

Joe Fresh Sweater Skirt | Michael Kors Fur Vest (similar here) | Frye Boots | Forever 21 Bag| H&M Scarf | Ralph Lauren Shirt

I wore this outfit for a late brunch Sunday afternoon in Boston. I fully intended to wear my heather gray tights with this skirt but either lost them somewhere along the way or failed to pack...go figure. Love, love, loving this Joe Fresh sweater skirt. Very, very unfortunate this store just opened up on the corner near my boyfriend's house, adjacent to Zara, Madewell, Anthro, J. Crew and H&M. Danger. Zone.

I got the blues...

J Brand Jeans / Zara Denim Shirt (similar here) / Michael Kors Fur Vest (similar here) / Forever 21 Circle Scarf & Bag

I received these jeans from ShopBop last week and they quickly became my all-time-favorite shortly after putting them on...so comfortable and flattering. I then wore this outfit for Sunday brunch but little did I know it would represent what my hair would like like 24 hours later.

If you have some time, get comfortable and I'll tell you a little story...if not, feel free to head on over to Facebook at any point. Please note the blond color of my hair, albeit with 3 inch roots, in the above photos. After going to yet another NYC salon for color last night, my highlights resemble this very outfit with the highlights matching my denim shirt and lowlights, my new favorite jeans. This isn't the first time I've ended up with blue hair in NYC. Little did I know, however, that Salon Novella in the East Village is a 'sister' salon to Ibiza Salon in Union Square...which left me looking like Katy Perry 11 short months ago. The lighting in Novella was such that I couldn't quite tell but I popped into my gym a couple blocks away (for the first time in months) to ask some girls in the locker room if I was crazy or if it was really blue. To which the first girl replied "Yeah! [really enthusiastic and positive] Is it part of your costume?!" The grumbling response under my breath was not nearly as positive. Another innocent bystander confirmed Miss Positive's claim: yes! it turned blue [like the Coors Light commercial].

I then marched my Marge-Simpson-mop back to Novella where AnnMarie pretended she didn't see it until I started to get forceful. She said it was 'cool'...it wasn't blue. And then I lost my "cool." She proceeded to re-highlight some of the blue to a nice pumpkin orange. At this point I break out in tears like a lunatic and she assures me it will 'wash out in a week.' And this is the point where I burst into a 'Tootie fit' (for those of you that know my late Grandma), collect my refund and head to the nearest deli to purchase a pint of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey. The Chunky eased the pain until it was gone.  And then I went back to hating my new do and myself for eating a pint of Chunky Monkey. I guess I now understand why everyone in New York is brunette. Needless to say, any NYC salon recommendations are greatly appreciated at this [desperate] point.

Thanks in advance,
Shanelé

Staples

White top - Zara
Jeans - Seven for All Mankind
Heels - Michael Kors
Earrings - Forever 21
Ring- H&M
Watch - Vintage

Although jeans are far from my favorite article of clothing, they're worth wearing to have another excuse to throw on this Zara top and Michael Kors heels, both of which I'm addicted too. This ring, featured in last week's 'Look's for Less', keeps sneaking its way into a lot of my outfits of late as well. I like the pop it adds to a basic look like this one.

Happy Thursday...which makes tomorrow Friday -- the day I leave for Chicago. I'll refrain from trying to articulate my excitement but let's just say I'm GEEKED!
xx,
Shanelé
