Guess Who's Back

{Alexander Wang Spring '14 at New York Fashion Week}

{ferry over to Governors Island on a gorgeous Sunday for the Governor's Island Art Fair}
{this city...}
{that sunset.}
Oh hi. I'm alive. Nothing better to get you amped up about blogging again like New York Fashion Week. My participation has been weak at best but I did make it to Alexander Wang Saturday afternoon. Kanye West was there and he asked where my shoes were from (these neon Zara ones)...I about freaking fainted. Sunday went to the Governors Island Art Fair, which I would highly recommend to all New Yorkers (weekends in September from 11-6). See more from both, as well as what I've been up to the last two months on my instagram and Twitter/Vine. I also put up two other posts from Cape Cod and a weekend at home last night if you're needing another distraction this Monday morning.

Dress Up

Alexander Grecco Tulle Skirt via Anthropologie | Forever 21 Sweatshirt & Booties (similar but somuchbetter here, another pair on sale here and a sparkly little pair here) | Chanel Bag | Zara Leather Jacket & Necklace (similar here) | OPI 'Do You Lilac It?' Nails | MAC Pink Noveau Lips

One of the many things I love about fashion week is not just the shows but the excuse to dress up like Carrie Bradshaw and no one bats an eye. I've had little reason to wear this skirt since Halloween but broke it out this weekend, like I said I would do in this post. Paired it with this heather gray sweatshirt which has the perfect amount of metallic sparkle in the knitting and a sparkly necklace I picked up at the Zara post-holiday sale. Rounded out with pink lips and purple nails for an extra girly look.

Fall 2013 Fashion Week Faves

{ahmazing chandelier in the middle of the runway at Jason Wu}
Big (HUGE) weekend with New York Fashion Week going on around town. Despite the unfortunate arrival of Nemo, I made it to shows I have dreamed about going to for 3+ years now starting off and ending with a bang (Jason Wu and Alexander Wang) with others in between that did not disappoint (Rag & Bone, Helmut Lang, Jen Kao and Herve Leger). I did my best to narrow it down to two photos per show but there are others on my Facebook page, Instagram and Vine account (username: Shanele; I'm an amateur so don't judge) for other photos and videos of the weekend. I am traveling this week for work but hope to make to a couple others before it all ends Thursday so be sure to follow along. Hope you all had a good one and weren't too affected by the storm.
{a romantic polka-dotted sheer gown at Jason Wu...and how cute is Bill Cunningham just right of the model}

{these are a few of my favorite things: leather, fur, polka dots, peplum & pleats (oh and Allison Williams in front of the model in the white) at Jason Wu}

{side swept low buns and natural makeup at Rag & Bone}

{bold blazers and other androgynous looks at Rag & Bone}

{an amazing coat with a big hood that would have come in handy while Nemo was in full force outside Helmut Lang}

{sheer, sparkle & leather dresses at Helmut Lang}

{a silk, flowy little number at Jen Kao}
{loved the heels and polka dot tights at Jen Kao}
{dramatic fur hoods at Herve Leger}

{sequin dresses and leather baseball caps at Herve Leger}

{unmatched sophistication and style (freaking unbelievable)...Alexander Wang Fall 2013}

{run, Alex, run (his infamous finale run that concludes each show)}

One Week

Seven days and counting until the kickoff of one of the greatest weeks of the year...New York Fashion Week. Whether its a tulle or flowy skirt, a monochromatic pairing of mixed textures or something more casual with a simple pop of color on your face/neck/feet, these five looks (with associated links in the captions) are currently serving as inspiration...so don't be surprised when my outfit posts aren't much different.

Runway Recap: Farah Angsana Fall 2012

I simply cannot believe another Fashion Week has come and gone. Always such a whirlwind between planning outfits, hosting guests, finding ways to get into shows and sneaking away from work if I'm successful. The super sweet and generous Kiley of A Sequin Dress at Breakfast hooked me up with tickets to Whitney Eve and Farah Angsana on Wednesday. My Whitney Eve photos didn't turn out but here are a few from my front-row seat at Farah. Her pieces ranged from structured suits and peplum tops/dresses to flowy colorful fabrics that literally danced down the runway. Simply lovely.

Finally, it's the end of the week & that means one thing: this is the last time I'll ask you to head over to J. Brand's Facebook page and vote for me (as many times as possible) in the 'Style Showdown' contest. Voting ends Monday so I need your support to help keep me in the lead and, in the event that I do win, one lucky Shanelé follower will get a $300 J. Brand gift card. Thank you so much for your votes & support! Have a great weekend. xo.

MBFW Color Inspiration

I haven't had a chance to make it through all the Spring 2012 shows online but stumbled across 'Note to Self's post above and we share a lot of the same favorites. The neon craze that is expected to completely take over next Spring fits nicely with my love for bright colors.

Weekend Update - 9/12/2011

{Glittery macarons at Tiffany's}
My head is still spinning after the last four day Fashion Week frenzy, which explains the lack of posting. Have seen SO many of my fashion idols, celebs, etc. etc. My friend Kara was in town so we kicked of Thursday evening's Fashion's Night Out at Manolo Blahnick with none other than Sarah Jessica Parker. After that, hit up a bunch of the high-end stores on Madison & Fifth Avenues including Tiffany's <Leighton Meister>, Coach <The Glamouri and Man Repeller>, Miu Miu, Dior, with a couple other pit stops in between. Finished the night in the Meatpacking district at Scoop, Intermix <Rachel Zoe, Mary J Blige>, HONOR <the Courtin-Clairins cousins> and a couple small boutiques in SOHO.
{Sarah Jessica Parker arriving at Manolo Blahnik}
Friday was brunch at Cafeteria and then Jason Wu, which was flooded with VIPs <Harpers Bazaar's Joanna Hillman, Jamie King, Jason Wu, Top Chef's Gail Simmons, Glee's Lea Michelle, Marie Claire's Joanna Cole, Zanna Roberts Rossi and Amanda Hearst, Hanneli Mustaparta, Joe Zee, Anna Dello Russo, Bergdorf Goodman's Linda Fargo, Glamour's Maria Duenas Jacobs, Teen Vogue's Mary Kate Steinmiller, among others>. After Jason Wu shot uptown to the Lincoln Center during the Rebecca Taylor and Mara Hoffman shows <Nigel Barker>. Friday night was the Fresh Faces in Fashion Show <Kelly Rutherford, Project Runway winner Jay McCarroll> and then Blogger Night Out <Sterling Style, Cheetah is the New Black>.
{Joanna Hillman in Chloe top and YSL heels}

Saturday was a lovely brunch at De Santos' back garden before heading to Alexander Wang which included sightings of all of those listed above and then some <Alicia Keys, Courtney Love, Glee's Chris Colfer>. After which we headed to a gallery opening, a late dinner at Pastis with a couple old friends from our sorority and concluded with drinks on the Gansevoort rooftop.
{Kara, Jess and I at De Santos brunch}
Sunday was brunch at Cafe Cluny, Daryl K fashion show and then Diane Von Furstenberg at the Lincoln Center <Nina Garcia, Valentino, Nicki Hilton, Alex and Simon McCord, Mickey Rourke>. Overall, unbeatable weekend. Hope you had a good one!

Fashion Week Outfit Inspiration - Christine Centenera

I think it's safe to say I'm completely obsessed with Australian Harper's Bazaar fashion editor, Christine Centenera. I would give my right hand for the Josh Goot dress pictured above and probably the whole arm for her shoe collection. To. Die. For. Ugh, what I would do. Here's a round-up of a couple of her other looks. I did my best to dwindle it down to these 11 (even though I have about 30 saved on my desktop). Hopefully you're inspired as I am as Fashion Week is nearly upon us.

T-minus one day and counting,
Shanelé
